In 2017, Kobe City has started the first nationwide program “Urban Innovation KOBE” which conducts service development and demonstration experiments to solve society and regional issues together with startup companies with new ideas and technologies aiming to create a rich society.
There were many visits and inquiries from municipalities from all over the country, and several local governments and companies participated to positively settle the challenges that they face with their technology. Thus, the trend of Government x Technology or GovTech started to be a yearly summit in Japan.
So, Kobe City held “Local governments x Start-up companies GovTech Summit” aiming for the development of Japan. With this summit, the local government and startup companies are able to share concrete examples and knowledge of Urban Innovation KOBE together with everyone who will be in charge of the next generation.
