As individuals and groups have crafted more sophisticated ways to embezzle, a traditional approach to combating them may not be enough. Can automation help curb this plague?

Just early this year, local media outlets reported that the Philippines ranked 115th in the global corruption index out of 180 countries worldwide. It scored 34 out of 100 in public sector corruption, with 100 considered very clean.

According to Transparency International, corrupt activities continue to pester governments across the globe.

“Corrupt acts like bribery and abuse of power are also infiltrating many courts and other justice institutions across the globe. Where corruption is the norm, vulnerable people have restricted access to justice while the rich and powerful capture whole justice systems, at the expense of the common good,” the group said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. previously acknowledged the need to streamline bureaucracy processes in various agencies to destroy corrupt practices since complicated rules could allow certain individuals to plan deception. He stressed this last year as he sought to welcome more foreign investors.

Robotic process automation (RPA) can revolutionize how agencies can detect fraud. Known for its capacity to automate repetitive and rule-based processes, the technology can eradicate unnecessary human interactions. Before deploying RPA, organizations must identify processes that need the intervention of software robots, as well as their digital transformation objectives.

Software robots can be programmed to collect massive data from several government agencies, like transaction logs and other requirements, making the whole procedure more efficient and less prone to human errors.

As they also have coded instructions for automatic performance, RPA can monitor unusual patterns in the system which can make the transaction vulnerable to corruption.

Organizations may also opt to integrate RPA with their existing system for a more streamlined data exchange. With RPA, government agencies can process different applications with ease, accuracy, and in a timely manner.

Monstarlab Philippines’ RAX team has been the country’s leading RPA company designing digital solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy in organizations’ processes. With its expertise in RPA, the company can help the government’s plan to integrate technologies in its push for e-governance, providing faster and more reliable services to the public.
